"Enjoy what we have written..."

Over 35 years ago we roamed the hallways of AVHS. As Craig Wevley penned in our Senior yearbook, "...enjoy what we have written..." Here's a glance at just a small portion of
A Moment in Time.

Just like that, the second hand tics
And the wind blows another page
Of our lives, completed, done.
The conclusion of a chapter
One full of happiness and joy.
The words lie in print, permanent,
And forever more, unchanging.
We can't go back and change the words,
We can only read the story,
And enjoy what we have written.
Do not concentrate on the past,
Simply glance back and reminisce.
Cherish the good, learn from the bad,
That is all one can truly do.
Stare down at the empty paper
Waiting to be written upon.
Each day we live is one more page,
Each second we live, another word.
When I look at the blank paper
I can not forsee the future,
But I do have a chance to write
Whatever type of song I wish.
Let's make the words sing out to all
Poetic expression of joy.
For each ballad we choose to sing
Becomes a piece of our short lives,
Mine and yours, for eternity.
Why shouldn't we reap happiness,
And forget about bitterness.
The tune we play is uncomposed,
And it can only be written
By the one who lives the new song.
Make the melody bounce with love,
So when read, it makes you smile
And bring you some more jubilence,
As the tune plays on forever.
So pick up the pen you write with,
Start on the next page of the book.
Begin singing the melody.
It's up to you to finish it.
Your choices are simply endless.
A good song can stay in your mind.
As does a good book on the shelf.
May your song sing for eternity.
Happily and not foolishly,
As will mine
-This is my wish for you.
